Who isn't excited for the Dark Souls 3 Xbox One version? The Dark Souls series is known for punishing, yet fair and rewarding game play. The souls games test players abilities, patience, and dedication. I have spent hundreds of hours playing the 1st and 2nd installments. I am hoping that Dark Souls 3 will provide a similar and improved experience. Will it live up to the expectations of Dark Souls fans? Or, will the developers make the game more accessible to new players and sacrifice the elements that make it great? Can Bandai find a balance to please both? Personally, I do not care if the make they the game more accessible, as long as it doesn't make it easier for me. There better NOT be a difficulty setting!
Lets go over what we know so far and see if we can get an idea if this game lives up to the hype. We know that the release was announced during E3 2016 and is slated in "early 2015".So far it looks like the 3rd week or March 2016. There seems to be a big focus on improving the multiplayer elements and matchmaking. Anyone who has played the souls games knows that this has always been an issue. There was a slight improvement with DS2 but, improvement is still needed. Unlike the other games in the series, you cannot go hollow and there is no humanity or effigy items. There is a new item called an ember, which seems to tie in with the lore. As with all souls games, the lore is something you have to look for.
I will say that from viewing and participating in some network stress tests, this game looks amazing. The combat feels like it should both in PVE and PVP. The game world is HUGE and I see myself getting lost for hundreds or hours as I explore, fight, and of course die. I decided to pre order the Dark Souls Xbox One version because I know it will be great no matter what. I hope to see all of you inside DS3 in a few months.
